MetaClean is an iOS application that helps you inspect photo metadata, create cleaned copies, and identify potentially sensitive information before you share a photo.
When you select photos in MetaClean, the app accesses the photos you choose through Apple's Photos framework and Photos Picker.
Metadata inspection and cleaning are performed on your device. Depending on the photo, metadata may include information such as camera details, date and time, orientation and location metadata.
MetaClean does not upload your photos or their metadata to a MetaClean server. Your original photos are not overwritten by the cleaning process. Cleaned copies are created for you to export or share.
Where available, MetaClean Pro can perform on-device checks for potentially sensitive information such as faces, phone numbers, email addresses, address-like text, QR codes, barcodes and licence plates.
These checks are performed locally using on-device Apple frameworks. The results are intended as privacy assistance and may contain false positives or false negatives. MetaClean does not send scanned image content or extracted text to a cloud AI service.
MetaClean does not require an account and does not collect or store your photo library, original photos, cleaned photos, OCR text, detected phone numbers, email addresses, addresses, faces or other extracted image content on MetaClean servers.
MetaClean does not use cloud image processing for its core photo-cleaning or privacy-scanning features.
MetaClean Pro subscriptions and purchases are handled through Apple's App Store and, where applicable, RevenueCat for subscription and entitlement management.
RevenueCat may process information required to manage subscriptions and entitlements, such as app and purchase identifiers. MetaClean does not receive your payment card details from Apple.

The MetaClean website may use Google Analytics to understand aggregate website usage, such as which pages are visited and how visitors interact with the site. Analytics data is used to improve the website and understand product interest.
Google Analytics is separate from MetaClean's on-device photo processing. Website analytics does not provide MetaClean with access to your photos.
We will configure analytics to minimise data collection and will not intentionally send photo contents, metadata or extracted sensitive information to Google Analytics.
The MetaClean website may use cookies or similar technologies associated with analytics or essential website functionality. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Where consent is required, applicable analytics collection will be enabled only in accordance with the relevant consent requirements.
MetaClean does not maintain a server-side database of your photos or privacy-scan results. Temporary files created during local processing are intended to be removed when they are no longer required by the app.
Analytics providers may retain aggregated or event-level website analytics data according to their own retention settings and policies.
MetaClean is not directed specifically at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through MetaClean.
You control which photos you provide to MetaClean through Apple's photo-selection permissions. You can also manage app permissions through iOS Settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to access, deletion, correction, restriction or objection to certain processing of personal information. Because MetaClean does not maintain a server-side copy of your photos or extracted image data, there may be no such data for us to provide or delete.
MetaClean may rely on Apple services and RevenueCat for app distribution, purchases and subscription entitlement management, and Google Analytics for website analytics. Those services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.
MetaClean is designed around local processing so that sensitive photo content does not need to be transmitted to a MetaClean backend. We also aim to avoid logging image contents or extracted personal information.
We may update this Privacy Policy when MetaClean's features, data practices or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
